PSAT Workshops


The Preliminary SAT National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a program co-sponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).  It is a standardized test that provides firs-hand practice for the SAT.  The PSAT test measures critical reading skills, math problem-solving skills, and grammar skills.  It also gives students a chance to enter NMSC scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools.

The HPHS PSAT Preparation Course offers students exposure to and practice with all types of questions used by the College Board since the changes made to the test in the Fall of 2015.  After analysis of sophomore assessment scores and pre-testing in the first sessions of the course, students improve their performance through individualized plans and strategies, complete with expert feedback from Dr. Wright and Mrs. Davenport.

The PSAT test will be administered at Highland Park High School on Wednesday, October 11, 2016.  Once again, we are offering a prep workshop prior to the test for interested juniors.  The details for the workshop are as follows:

Class size is limited and enrollment will be honored on a first-come, first-served basis.  The cost for each course is $300.00. Please make check payable to HPHS and submit payment to Nancy Snoddy in the counseling department by September 5th.  Please note that registration is not finalized until payment is received.  The deadline for requesting a refund is one week prior to the first day of the workshop, September 6th.  If you have questions about the workshop, please email Nancy Snoddy at
