La Société Honoraire de Français
The mission of La La Société Honoraire de Français is to stimulate interest in the study of French, to promote high standards of scholarship, and to reward scholastic achievements.

Application Process:

Students may apply in the spring semester of Level 3 or higher.  Applications are to picked up from a French teacher at the end of the 4th 6-week marking period in February. 

Membership Requirements: Membership is based on scholarship in general and scholarship in French, in particular

Membership is restricted to those students actively engaged in the study of French in high school

Candidates must be enrolled in at least level III of French and must continue to French Level IV

Transfer students must have spent one full semester in the high school before becoming eligible

Candidates must submit an original poem or short story in French reflecting high standards of language writing

Each year, current members are expected to attend the Induction Ceremony held in the spring as a sign of solidarity and to welcome the new inductees into the society.

Candidates must have both a current and overall grade point average of 3.6 in French (Levels 1-current level)  Candidates must also have a B- average or higher in all other subjects during the semester of selection as well as an overall B-average in coursework completed prior semesters

Officer Positions:  Both current and new members of the SHF are encouraged to run for office.  Elections are held in the spring prior to the Induction Ceremony.  Positions include: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary.  Officers must be actively enrolled in French for positions of leadership.
