The Bagpipe is our school newspaper, published by the newspaper staff and their advisor, Ms. Hall-Chiles.  The paper includes a calendar, pictures, current events, editorials, and pressing issues in the school.  The Bagpipe is published monthly.

Cafeteria

The cafeteria is operated by the PTA and staffed primarily by volunteer moms and dads.  Students have a variety of food selections, including deli sandwiches, pizza, and a special entrée.  Food is served before school through the last lunch period.  The cafeteria also serves as the center of campus life, where students go to meet and study.

Clan

The Clan is the student directory published each year by the Student Council.  It includes addresses and phone numbers for all students and advertisements from local businesses.

Highlander

The Highlander is the title of the yearbook at HPHS, produced by the yearbook staff and their advisor, Ms. Perkins.  It is distributed at the end of the year, first to seniors and then to the rest of the student body.  The yearbook is very popular with students and includes the standard school picture along with pictures of events throughout the year.

Highlander Stadium

Highlander Stadium is the football field located behind the high school.

Honor Council

The Honor Council is elected by a vote of the student body during spring elections. The Honor Council decides on cases dealing with cheating in class or other forms of academic dishonesty.  The teacher reports a student suspected of cheating by a referral to their Assistant Principal.  The teacher and the student have an opportunity to explain their story at the hearing, and the Honor Council makes a recommendation regarding appropriate consequences.

Kiltie

The Kiltie is the student handbook which details school policies and procedures and includes the Code of Conduct.  It is available to view online through the school’s website.

Off Campus/OpenCampus

Seniors are allowed to leave school during their open or lunch periods by showing their “open campus pass” to the parking garage attendants.  This privilege can be revoked if a student is failing any classes or has excessive absences.

Scot Shop

The Scot Shop is a spirit shop in the stadium which sells pictures of extra-curricular events, Scot shirts, shorts, hats, and buttons.  The shop also sells yard signs for each sport.

Scotland Yard

Scotland Yard is the baseball stadium located next to the administration building.

Senior Wall

The Senior Wall is the wall in front of the pool.  Every spring semester the Senior Wall is re-painted by the seniors.  The seniors each get assigned an individual square on the wall, and they paint their memories, names, and regards to anyone who passes the wall.  The wall is a big senior privilege and really gives personality to our school, while honoring and acknowledging the responsibilities and privileges of seniors.

Tartan

The Tartan is our school literary magazine.  The magazine is an artistic magazine and includes many students’ art pieces and poetry.
