MAPS Casa Playhouse
Students in Highland Park High School’s Moody Advanced Professional Studies (MAPS) program gain hands-on experience through real-world projects that connect classroom learning with industry expertise and community partnerships. Through the MAPS Architecture pathway, students collaborate with professionals to explore the design and construction process while applying creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
Each year, students partner with Preservation Park Cities and a Dallas-area builder to design and construct a unique playhouse inspired by architecture and design concepts. Industry professionals mentor students throughout the process, providing guidance on design planning, construction techniques, building requirements, and real-world problem solving. The completed playhouse is displayed at NorthPark Center as part of the annual Dallas CASA Parade of Playhouses, giving students the opportunity to showcase their work while supporting children in foster care.
