Profile

Hello, my name is Susanne Malins. I am a graduate of Texas Tech University with a degree in Advertising and English. I grew up mostly in Lubbock and am an avid Red Raider fan! It’s truly a family thing. My dad taught me the fight song before my ABCs. My mom, dad, two brothers, two sisters-in-law, two uncles, three cousins and a nephew have all gone to Tech. Wreck’em!

I advise the Highlander yearbook and teach Journalism I and photojournalism. I started at Highland Park in 2020, and I am thrilled to be a Scot! I have over 25 years of experience teaching and advising student publications. Before becoming a teacher, I was a reporter for a small daily newspaper. I worked as a free-lancer on and off through the years on the side with jobs such as technical writing, news reporting and publicist for a singer/songwriter. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am married with one child and a cat.
