Lauri McDonald

Hi, my name is Lauri McDonald and chemistry is a family tradition for me:  my mom is a retired Biochemist and junior college teacher and my Dad is a polymer research chemist and PhD/college-level professor.  In fact, it goes back further than that, as I was the fourth generation in my family to attend Millsaps College in Jackson, MS, and major in Chemistry and go on to teach it!

I have been teaching high school chemistry for 19 years, 4 in my home state of Mississippi, and the last 15 at Highland Park High School in Dallas, Texas.  After moving to Texas, I got my master’s degree at Southern Methodist University in education and- you guessed it- chemistry!

Outside of the classroom, my husband and I are parents of two very energetic boys- an extremely precocious kindergartener and a rambunctious almost-2 year old, who take up most of our free time!
