I began teaching at Highland Park High School in 2013 after moving here from Arkansas where I taught for 21 years. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education and a Masters in Gifted/Talented Education. While teaching in Arkansas I received Lamar High School Teacher of the Year, Arkansas Secondary Art Educator of the Year, Arkansas Art Educator of the Year, and achieved National Board Certification. As an active participant of the Arkansas Art Educators association, I served as President-Elect, coordinating our annual convention, and then served as President of the organization.
I am passionate about my content, believing that art should enrich the life of all my students, either as artists or as viewers. I strive to constantly improve my teaching practices, with my goal to improve student learning at all levels. When not teaching I enjoy art (of course), video games, puzzles and reading.
