Dr. Linder O'Rourke
I have been teaching for 36 years both in California and in Texas. I earned B.S.in English in both American and British literature at UCLA with a strong focus on Art History, Sociology, and Psychology. I am also a Reading Specialist which I earned along with my M.S. in Secondary Education. I completed my advanced degree in Education at Claremont Graduate University/Pomona Colleges in 1994 with a focus on male dominated language in literature texts and its effects on adolescent construction of gender. I am very fond of bringing in elements of popular culture to the literature and language classrooms as it brings alive the connections between the classical works we study and the real world for students. After work I enjoy walking my dogs, practicing yoga, and reading historical and creative nonfiction. I am a big fan of movies based on novels.
