Beside winning EVERY event, Staunton also broke the State Record on Parallel Bars, scoring 29.4 over 3 days!
He now holds 13 State Titles, just one shy of the record 14 held by HP’s Peter Hegi. Hegi’s record is 30 years old set in 1992. Clay needs one gold to tie and two state wins to beat the record.
Also with a remarkable meet was JUNIOR Austin Chapman. Austin made finals in 5 events and placed 4th All Around; 3rd Pommel Horse; 3rd Vault; 4th Rings; 5th Parallel Bars; 5th Floor.
William Benz had a personal best of 9.45 on pommel horse, Emory Sowden had a personal best on Vault doing a difficult Tsukhara, while John Sartain, Tommy Simpson, Lance Lorio and Adam Harper were in HP’s top 3 scores.
Senior Andrew Else captained the team to a season high and state best-floor team score of 28.3.
Tyler Abbara, Dylan Pivnick, Jose Suarez, Jake Ford, JT Mills and Ryder Greene were pivotal in our 2nd place finish.
