Enrolling at HPHS
Please note that the Highland Park High School campus remains
closed due to COVID-19. HPHS Enrollment Information may be
subject to change in relation to COVID-19 orders and guidelines.
Enrollment at Highland Park High School is a two-step process. Please PRINT the below enrollment checklist prior to beginning the following steps.
(Step #1) An online enrollment application must be completed and
(Step #2) Copies of all documents required for enrollment must be turned in
before an enrollment appointment can be scheduled.
Complete the online New Student Enrollment Application (via your parent Skyward account).
New Skyward User: If you are new to the district and do not have a Skyward account, Click Here To Begin The New Student Enrollment Process.
Returning Skyward User: If you have a Skyward account and are enrolling a new student (example: you have a student in HPISD, and are enrolling an incoming freshman), Click Here To Begin The New Student Enrollment Process.
*If you have a Skyward account and are enrolling a student who previously attended HPISD schools, withdrew, and is returning to HPISD, you may need to contact the HP school your student will be attending if your Skyward account needs to be reactivated.
CURRENT HPISD STUDENTS:
Students currently enrolled in HPISD do not need to complete the online enrollment application to move on to a higher grade or new campus. If you have any questions about your student moving from one grade to the next, please contact your child's counselor. This online enrollment application is for students who were not enrolled at HPHS on the last day of school for the 2019-20 school year. This application is NOT for Back to School Sign Up – The BSSU link will be available July 30 – August 7, 2020 on the HPISD home page at www.hpisd.org.
Print a copy of the Enrollment Checklist, from the link at the top of this page, and fill out the top section of the form. Next, collect all the documents listed and make a copy of each document that the school can keep for your student’s records. The Checklist will be your enrollment packet cover sheet with each of the documents following in the order they appear on the checklist. Only complete packets will be accepted. If there are any documents missing the packet cannot be accepted which will delay the scheduling of your student’s enrollment appointment.
New Enrollment Document packets should be dropped off to the box that has been placed just inside the front doors of the high school (on Emerson Ave.) in the vestibule before the second set of doors where you enter the school. The box is marked for “New Student Enrollment Packets” and Change of Address (Proof of Residency) documents. There is no person to person interaction involved when dropping off documents to the box inside the vestibule, since the school is currently closed to visitors due to COVID-19. Once I have received and approved your student’s documents I will contact you to schedule your student’s enrollment appointment.

Enrollment appointments for the 2020-21 school year will take place on:
Wednesday, August 5; Thursday, August 6; & Friday August 7, 2020 then again on;
Monday, August 17; Tuesday, August 18; & Wednesday, August 19, 2020
Enrollment appointments with the Counselor will take place
via a remote virtual meeting through Google Meet.
The first day of school (online virtual classes) begins Thursday, August 20th.
Enrollments are available by appointment only.
No walk-in appointments can be accommodated.
Important Information for the 2020-21 School Year:
Services related to 504 Plans or Special Education:
Please be advised if your new student requires 504 or Special Education services I will see that the appropriate Coordinator is requested to be in attendance at your student’s enrollment meeting with the Counselor. Your student’s 504 or Special Ed documents should be turned in to me as part of the enrollment packet along with the other required enrollment documents and I will take care of forwarding any special services documents on to the appropriate Coordinator. If your student has received prior services for 504 or Special Ed please be sure to indicate this on the “Services Previously Provided” form found in “Step #5 Additional District Forms” of the enrollment application.
*If you are enrolling a new student that has been receiving 504 Accommodations at their prior school please be sure to include, with your new student enrollment document packet, a copy of their physicians report/testing and letter/statement from the transferring school that shows the accommodations the student received during the 2019-20 school year. Not including or missing 504 Documents could delay the scheduling of your students enrollment appointment.
*If you are enrolling a new student that receives Special Education Services please be sure to include, with your new student enrollment document packet, a copy of their IEP records, goals/objectives/date of last ARD and any other pertinent SpEd paperwork from the transferring school. Not including or missing SpEd documents could delay the scheduling of your student’s enrollment appointment.
If you are interested in your new student being tested for the HPISD Talented and Gifted program, please be advised that TAG testing for new students will take place after school starts. If your student was in the TAG program at their transferring school please be sure to indicate this on the “Services Previously Provided” form found in “Step #5 Additional District Forms” of the enrollment application. Also, when you meet with your student’s counselor, for the enrollment appointment, please let the counselor know that you would like for your student to be tested for TAG.
