Congrats to the HP Clay Shooting Team

On Saturday, January 21st, we had our 2nd Sporting Clays/Trap shoot of the season, and boy did we crush it!! Many of our kids shot their personal bests in both disciplines.

In Trap, Sophomore Luke Bowden stole the show finishing with an amazing team high score of 92, just 1 target from a bronze and 3 from the gold IN VARSITY!! Three different rounds he was 1 bird away from running a 25!! Senior VP Brooks Baker scored his best ever trap with a score of 88, which gave him a top 10 finish!! Brody Dillon in his first ever shoot finished in the Top 25 out of 67 in JV! Wells Rutledge and William Chloupek also finished in the top half in the Varsity Division.

In Sporting Clays Intermediate/Entry level, Miller Rosamond came out on fire, finishing with a 59 which was good enough for 9th and just four birds behind was Mr. Carter Wherry, who shot someone else’s gun and still managed an impressive top 12 finish!! Three spots behind Carter was first time tournament shooter Jake Gonzalez, finishing super strong and was all smiles after!!

In the Intermediate/advanced level, Colton Hardesty who’s as cool as the other side of the pillow… finished with a 79 and a bronze medal around his neck!! Jackson Edwards who has to be the MOST IMPROVED of the Intermediate shooters finished with a personal best of 70 and a well earned first top 10 finish!! Max Guthery also came out hot and shot his way into a top 20 out of 45 finish!!

In Women’s JV, freshman Anna Higgins continued her podium streak as she shot an impressive 65, which landed her the bronze medal out of 23 shooters.

In Mens JV, Ted Alder led the way with a personal best score of 71, helping him slide into the top 15. Just a few birds back and in the top 20 was Tripp Wolff and Carson Critcher. Rounding out the top half was Harrison Barden, Ben Fitzgerald, Noah Guthery and Will Lawerence. Can’t wait to see how well these guys do next shoot!!!

In Women’s Varsity, Analina Naugle came out shooting the moon, doubling her personal best from her last shoot and finishing in the top 10 of 24 shooters.

In Men’s Varsity, Senior “Mama, there goes that man” Lance Lorio, without coming to a single practice all year…. came out HOT!! Lance finished with a team high 86 and finished 12th out of 98. Just behind him was Sam Higgins who came out blazing and finished with a new personal best of 80, which placed him in the top 20!! One spot behind Sam was Brooks Baker, who did his usual thang and baked 78 orange marshmallow peeps. After a rough morning changing a flat tire at 6am… seniors Jack Hamick, Matthew Lam, Brice Beaird filled the orange clays up with holes and finished in the top 35. Luke Bowden, Jack Clark, Will Wirskye, Sam Lawerence,  William Chlopeck, Lock Norris along with Drew Love, John Myers, John Middendorf, shooting their personal bests, all finished just in the TOP half of Varsity shooters.

The next shoot will be February 11th at Ellis County!!
