HPHS junior Aidan Conner won his second individual state title in the 195-pound weight class at the UIL 5A State Wrestling Tournament Feb. 24 in Cypress. Conner completed an undefeated season of 52-0 with a pin in the championship finals, and he is only the third wrestler in HP history to go unbeaten in a season.

Senior Caleb Kimzey ended his high school wrestling career on a winning note in the 152-pound weight class by defeating his opponent 6-2 and earning a fifth-place medal in the match.

Also competing for the Scots:

Junior Colby Hopkins, 182-pound weight class, 1 win 2 losses
Sophomore Spencer Buchholz, 138-pound weight class

HP finished the tournament in eighth place out of 91 teams competing.

"The wrestling season is a long and difficult grind and it takes a special individual to stay the course and persevere to the end," Head Wrestling Coach Tim Marzuola said. "I am honored and proud to have had the privilege to coach this team and look forward to working with each of the returners next year and challenge them to eclipse this year's successes."

Capping a successful season, the Scots finished ninth in the State Dual Championships, eighth in the UIL State Championship Tournament, first in the District 9-5A Championship Tournament, and second in the Region 3 Championship Tournament. The team's dual record was 25-14.

Congratulations, Scots!
