Taylor Volquardsen
Teacher Profile
Hello! My name is Taylor Volquardsen and I am one of the Art I Honors and Graphic Design teachers this year! This is my 3rd year teaching at Highland Park and I am excited to continue working as part of this amazing community.
I grew up in right off the Gulf in League City, Texas, in between Houston and Galveston and down the street from the Space Center. I attended an early college high school and received my AA in Art and Design from San Jacinto College at the same time as I got my high school diploma. After, I moved up here to Dallas and went to UTD to get my BA in Arts, Technology, and Emerging Communications with a minor in Visual Arts. Within ATEC, I took the computer animation track and specialized in 3D modeling and texturing. I've been up here in the Dallas area ever since! I am currently on the hunt for a good master's program in art education so I can continue improving my skills as an art teacher and give my absolute best to my students.
I've done a number of odd jobs, from delivery driving to working for music festivals, but through it all I have been a freelance graphic designer mainly making posters for small bands and venues in Waco and Austin. As a lifelong artist I am so excited to share my love and passion for art with my students.
I enjoy drawing and painting, of course, as well as cooking and baking. I also love to read, and have started a mini book club with my sisters this year.
