Melissa Reed
Teacher Profile
Melissa Reed is beginning her 15th year in the classroom and joined the Highland Park High School English Department in the fall of 2015. At Highland Park High School she has taught English II Standard, English II Pre-AP, English III AP-TaG, and Newspaper. She believes every student can develop an appreciation for literature, especially when the student personally connects to the material. Her goal is to foster these connections and build literary confidence, empowering students to approach any text. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a BS in Journalism, completed 27 hours of Masters Level Courses in English from St. Mary's University, and completed a Masters in Curriculum & Instruction through Kansas University. Her previous teaching experience was in Plano ISD at Jasper High School and at Central Catholic High School in San Antonio, Texas.
