CONGRATULATIONS to the HPHS Robotics Bell VRC Team, the “Scotbots”, for a successful competition last Saturday, November 13th in the Bell Vertical Robotics Competition (VRC) Earthquake Search & Rescue Competition at the University of Texas, Arlington!
The Bell VRC team spent hundreds of hours this semester both after school and on Saturdays to ready their robotic drone for flight and had three successful runs during the competition. Though their drone suffered some post-collision damage during each run, the team lost no time in making necessary repairs and adjustments to ensure their drone regained flightworthiness in time for the next flight. The Scotbots’ ingenuity and agility demonstrated that they are indeed “Geared for Greatness”: Of twenty competing teams, the HP Robotics Scotbots placed 7th overall and 4th in the presentation-skills segment (where team members were called to explain and depict to the judges the engineering process that led them to their ultimate drone design). Well done, Scotbots and HP Robotics!!!
