Highland Park DPS is starting its second HPDPS101 course soon! Did you know that every Highland Park officer is a firefighter, paramedic, and police officer? This course allows Highland Park residents to learn how our DPS model works and provides the opportunity to learn skills and techniques for each discipline of a public safety officer. The course consists of 4 classes throughout the year and each class will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
March 23rd - Basic Overview of Highland Park DPS: Chief Sandman will provide a presentation that explains our department.
May 5th - Firefighting Class: Public Safety Officers will explain certain aspects of firefighting and allow participants the opportunity to try a few firefighting skills.
August 24th - Dispatch/EMS Class: Participants will learn about our dispatch system and our medical service capabilities while getting a chance to practice a few first aid skills.
November 9th - Police Class: Participants will be introduced to policing and can perform a few of our techniques.
