Requesting Accommodations for College Board and ACT Testing

Accommodations provided at HPHS are meant to support students based on their daily academic needs within the school setting. Students with a formal plan (IEP/ 504) may be eligible to receive accommodations on College Board (PSAT, AP, SAT) or ACT exams.

HPHS is able to make these requests on behalf of these eligible students with parent consent if provided the requested information by the HPHS deadline.

Because each request takes time, HPHS has set campus deadlines for accommodation requests. These are necessary to ensure we are able to gather the data needed to make a request on your behalf. Please see the calendar below for the campus deadlines to submit accommodation requests.

Please keep in mind: we can only request accommodations that are listed on the student’s current IEP or 504 plan.

The process for requesting accommodations differs for College Board and for ACT. Please read and complete the applicable section for each exam separately.

College Board (PSAT, AP , and SAT):

  1. This College Board Consent for Accommodations form must be completed with your student’s information and your signature.
  2. Complete this College Board Google form and upload the consent form where noted.
  • We can only request accommodations that are listed on the student’s current IEP or 504 plan.
  • Please ensure that HPHS has all updated documentation of a student’s diagnosis and disability.
  • For students to receive the support of the Highland High School staff in submitting requests for accommodations, families must submit their requests by the campus' deadlines (see below).
  1. Your completed submission is a record of receipt.
  2. Requests that are received by the HPHS deadline will be processed in a timely manner prior to the College Board deadline.
    1. Students can still submit their requests for accommodations directly to the College Board after the HPHS deadline. Please understand that late requests may not provide a decision in a timely manner for the upcoming test date.

Per College Board: Students who receive an accommodation in school do not automatically qualify for the accommodation on College Board exams—even if they have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 plan. The request for accommodations must still be approved by College Board’s Services for Students with Disabilities.

ACT:

  1. Students must register for the ACT first.
    1. Select “SPECIAL TESTING” to indicate the need for accommodations.
  2. ***Parental Action Required after registration: After you register, you will receive an email that provides your next steps, which includes the consent form that must be completed and uploaded onto this ACT Request Google Form before we can request accommodations.
  • Please remember that: Only Accommodations listed on a formal school plan will be requested.
  • For students to receive the support of the Highland High School staff in submitting requests for accommodations, families must submit their requests by the campus' deadlines (see below).
  • Please ensure that HPHS has all updated information of student’s diagnosis and disability.
  1. Your completed submission is a record of receipt.
  2. Requests that are received by the HPHS deadline will be processed in a timely manner prior to the ACT deadline.

Any questions regarding accommodations on a student’s school plan (IEP or 504 plan), should be directed to either the 504 Coordinator: Jennifer Whitaker, Special Education Coordinator: Josh Schilling, or Dyslexia Coordinator: Marcy Wilson.
