Rylee Kay - English
Howdy! I’m Rylee Kay, and I am so excited and hopeful as I enter into my third year of teaching English. I have had the pleasure of teaching all around Texas. Most recently, I went home to teach and coach in the small town of Sinton, Texas. I had the pleasure of teaching at the high school where both my sisters, Annie (18) and Addison (15), were attending, as well as my own alma mater. A proposal from my now fiancé has brought me to Dallas, and I hope to find my permanent home here at Highland Park. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Texas A&M University. After graduating, I continued my education in a post baccalaureate master’s program, simultaneously obtaining my teaching certification and a master’s in curriculum and instruction. I have taught many levels of secondary English, from 8th grade to 11th. I also coached basketball and softball. This year, I am excited to be at Highland Park High School as the Freshmen English TAG & Junior Standard English teacher. English has always been a passion of mine. I strongly believe that reading is for everyone, but some people have yet to be shown the right book. Reading and writing are important skills that allow us to think both critically and creatively. Literature gives us a unique opportunity to share our world with others, seek experiences outside our own, and relate to realities that are different from ours.
