Thomas Ayers - Physics
Thomas Ayers
Honors and Standard Physics
I have earned a Bachelors of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a Masters of the Arts in Teaching Science from the University of Texas at Dallas. In 2004, I began my teaching career at Berkner HS (RISD). I then taught at Georgetown HS (GISD), followed by Westwood High School (RRISD), and most recently at Sachse HS (GISD). I have taught all levels of physics including Intergraded Physics and Chemistry, Standard, Honors, and Advanced Placement (AP) 1, C: Mechanics, and C: Electricity and Magnetism.
I have been happily married since 2009. In 2016, my daughter was born, and was joined by my son in 2019. During this time I took a sabbatical from teaching to raise my children.
I am excited to return to teaching at Highland Park High School. Physics is the synthesis of conceptual understanding and using mathematics as a language to express that understanding. I believe that all students can have success in understanding, but what that success presents itself as can be quite different for each individual student.
"Equipped with his five senses, man explores the universe around him and calls the adventure Science." - Thomas Hubble
