Seizures

Seizures are temporary changes in behavior caused by problems with the electrical and chemical activity of the brain.  Some may start with minor symptoms, and then lead to a fall or loss of consciousness; other seizures may end in just a few seconds.  Therefore students with a history of seizures should submit an annual Seizure Action Plan signed by their physician and parent.  This will allow the School Nurse to monitor and manage the student's seizure activity in accordance with your physician's orders.

If your child requires Diazepam Rectal Gel as an emergency intervention to control or stop a seizure, please make sure the physician completes the appropriate section on the Seizure Action Plan and provide the student's medication to the School Nurse.  Expired medication will not be administered.
